Mexico City is the capital of Mexico. The high-altitude, densely populated metropolis is known for the Templo Mayor (a 13th-century Aztec temple), the baroque Catedral Metropolitana de México of the Spanish Conquistadors, and the Palacio Nacional with historic murals by Diego Rivera. All these sights are located at or near the spacious main square Plaza de la Constitución, also called Zócalo.
