Protests in Prague against energy prices

In Prague, the Czech capital, tens of thousands demonstrated against rising energy prices, the European Union and NATO. Authorities estimated the number of participants at around 70,000. Right-wing extremist parties and the Communist Party have called for the rally. The rise in prices, especially electricity and gas, will destroy the economy in the fall, declared one of the organizers.

Prime Minister Petr Fiala, who governs with a center-right coalition, criticized the demonstration as being co-sponsored by pro-Russian forces and damaging the country’s interests.
